The HPC is also charged with providing guidance and a forum for <br />public comments on National Register nominations and administering the Local Landmark Program <br />as outlined in the Certified Local Government Program. <br />What are your Commission's most important accomplishments? <br />• Historic Resources Book Manuscript: Initiated the final manuscript preparation phase of the <br />project to produce a publication documenting the historic resources of Orange County, in <br />partnership with the Town of Hillsborough and the Alliance for Historic Hillsborough. (2017) <br />• "Farm to Table" Demonstration for Historic Preservation Month: HPC members presented <br />hands -on programs on historic woodworking, historic hand tools and traditional farm life skills <br />for over 300 fourth graders at Blackwood Farm Park, as part of the annual "Farm to Table" <br />event sponsored by DEAPR. (2017) <br />• Efland Home National Register Nomination: Completed a project to prepare a National <br />Register Nomination for the historic Efland Home or NC Industrial Home for Colored Girls <br />with funding provided through the County's Lands Legacy Program. (2017). <br />• Cedar Grove Community Center Historic Designation: Completed project to place the historic <br />Cedar Grove School on the state's Study List as the first step toward listing it on the National <br />Register of Historic Places.
