5 <br /> <br />o information technology, 1 <br />o and health technology. 2 <br />These programs meet the demands of the largest employers in the county, and offer training in 3 <br />skills that are currently needed in the workforce. 4 <br />• Durham Tech should consider adjusting its offerings to accommodate a wider variety of 5 <br />students. Working adults would likely benefit from night and weekend programs, while 6 <br />high school students need career readiness training, apprenticeships, and internships. 7 <br />• Durham Tech should consider expanding its advertising and communication in Orange 8 <br />County, including reaching out to small businesses and high schools. She said it will be a challenge, 39 <br />but Durham Tech will continue to be creative, and look to others for short-term space rental if 40 <br />need be. 41 <br />Matt Williams said some courses may not be offered in Orange County until the 42 <br />expansion, but all classes are offered at the Durham campus. 43 <br />Commissioner McKee asked if Durham Tech has considered having employers do 44 <br />training on site, at the employers’ facility. 45 <br />Matt Williams said yes, and this does happen sometimes. 46 <br />Chair Dorosin asked if there is a reason that high school facilities are not used at night 47 <br />and on weekends, or community centers, or government buildings that are not otherwise being 48 <br />used. He said this could be a long-term solution. 49
