STATEMENT OF CONSISTENCY <br />OF A PROPOSED UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCETEXTAMENDMENT <br />WITH THE ADOPTED ORANGE COUNTY 2030 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />Orange County has initiated an amendmentto the Unified Development Ordinance <br />(UDO) modifying regulations governing the advertising and holding of neighborhood <br />information meetings(NIM). <br />The Planning Board finds: <br />a.The requirements of Section 2.8 of the UDO have been deemed complete; and, <br />b.Pursuant to Sections 1.1.5, and 1.1.7 of the UDO and to Section 153A-341of the <br />North Carolina General Statutes, the Board finds sufficient documentation within <br />the record denoting that the amendment is consistent withthe adopted 2030 <br />Comprehensive Plan. <br />1.The amendment is consistent with applicable plans becauseit supports the <br />following 2030 Comprehensive Plan goals and objectives: <br />x Land Use Goal 6 – A land use planning process that is <br />transparent, fair, open, efficient, and responsive. <br />These amendments are consistent with this goal and <br />objective by clarifying when neighborhood information <br />meetings are held for various projects. <br />c.The amendment is reasonable and in the public interest becauseit: <br />1.Eliminates existing inconsistencies with the UDO concerning the timeframe <br />for holding neighborhood information meeting(NIM). <br />The amendment address concerns staff has heard over the <br />turnaround time between NIMs and Planning Board meetings, <br />establish desired uniformity within the UDO where possible, and <br />still allow for adequate time for local residents to become informed <br />of projects and required review processes. <br />ThePlanning Boardof Orange County hereby recommends that the Board of County <br />Commissioners consider adoption of the proposed UDO text amendment. <br />______________________________________________ <br />Lydia Wegman,Chair Date <br />Attachment 2 <br />72
