MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES <br />January 12, 2018 <br />1 <br />THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MET ON FRIDAY:January 12, 2018at the <br />Hillsborough Commons, Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERS PRESENT:Tamara Dempsey-Tanner, Ann Wilkerson,Susie <br />Enochts, andPat Garavaglia. <br />GUEST:None. <br />BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERSABSENT:Earl McKee. <br />STAFF PRESENT: Nancy Coston, Director; Lindsey Shewmaker, Human Services Manager; Sharron Hinton, <br />Human Services Manager; Crystal Mitchell, Program Manager; and Micah Guindon,Fiscal Manager. <br />I.Call to Order and Introductions <br />DSS Chair, Tamara Dempsey-Tanner, called the meeting to order at 9:39am. <br />II.Board Comments <br />Ann Wilkerson thanked Lindsey Shewmaker and Nancy Coston for helping change the meeting date so <br />she could attend. <br />III.Public Comments <br />None. <br />IV.Agenda Changes <br />Pat Garavaglia asked for a quick rundown on the holiday program. <br />V.Action Items <br />On a motion byPat Garavaglia,the Board approved the minutes of December 16, 2017.Ann <br />Wilkersonseconded the motion. The motion was carried without dissent. <br />VI.Items for Discussion and/or Decision <br />1.Budget Planning <br />Nancy Coston went over the Budget Overview PowerPoint presentation that was given to <br />Department Heads by the County Manager.It included important dates and general issues related <br />to the submission and approval of the FY2018-19 budget. The Board discussed adjusting its <br />meeting schedule to accommodate the budget process. <br />Ann Wilkerson moved that the February Board meeting be moved to February 12th at 4:00pm. Pat <br />Garavaglia seconded the motion. The motion was carried without dissent. <br />Tamara Dempsey-Tanner moved that the March Board meeting be moved to March 5th at 4:00pm. <br />Ann Wilkerson seconded the motion. The motion was carried without dissent.
