MINUTES-Draft <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH <br />October 26, 2016 <br />S:\Managers Working Files\BOH\Agenda & Abstracts\2016 Agenda & Abstracts/ October Page 4 <br />Environmental Health Services has used the same feedback tool since 2007. Their survey <br />consisted of 18 questions and was collected from September 2015 to September 2016. <br />There were 166 surveys collected. Their results showed improvement in all areas with <br />satisfaction rates in the 90th percentile including: <br /> <br />• Food and Lodging Feedback - 97% of clients felt they were kept well informed and/or <br />had a chance to ask questions <br />• Well and Septic Permitting Feedback – 98% of clients reported an overall satisfaction <br />with their services <br />• General Feedback – 94% of clients felt that office staff was professional and <br />courteous <br /> <br /> The Environmental Health staff will continue to work to provide excellent service to the <br /> community. <br /> <br /> <br />VI. Reports and Discussion with Possible Action <br /> <br />A. E-cigarette Rule Update <br /> <br />At its April meeting, the Board decided to postpone its vote on the proposed rule to prohibit the <br />use of E-cigarettes inside restaurants and bars in Orange County as the Surgeon General’s <br />report was due to be released in fall 2016. Due to the current expected release of the Surgeon <br />General’s report to occur in early 2017, Dr. Bridger asked the Board on how they wanted to <br />proceed with the E-cigarette proposed rule After discussion, the Board agreed to wait until the <br />Surgeon General’s report is released before voting on the proposed rule. <br /> <br />B. Present Chair/Vice-Chair Slate <br /> <br />Liska Lackey, Chair, stated that the nominees for the positions of Chair and Vice-Chair are Nick <br />Galvez and Dan Dewitya, respectively. BOH members will vote to select the Chair and Vice- <br />Chair at the November meeting. <br /> <br />C. Health Director Report <br /> <br />Dr. Bridger highlighted some of the items in her report including the nursing shortage which is a <br />cause for the longer wait times in the clinic. There’s been a lack of applicants to the posted <br />nursing job announcements. She stated that she’s working with HR and the County Manager’s <br />office on this issue. Dr. Bridger stated that a market analysis is currently underway and that she <br />hopes to be able to announce approval of those recommendations. She also mentioned another <br />ongoing challenge that has been occurring over the last six months involved the transitioning <br />from Dr. Monaco, Medical Director. There have been multiple physicians from UNC Family <br />Medicine rotating in our clinics. Dr. Bridger expressed her excitement at the hiring of the new <br />Medical Director, Dr. Erica Pettigrew, who will be starting December 1st and the level of outside <br />expertise she’d bring with her. <br /> <br />D. Media Items <br /> <br />Media items were in the packet which focused on Orange County’s events and our <br />involvement in various efforts.
