I <br /> <br />Attachment(s): None <br /> <br />Staff or Board Member Reporting: Dr. Colleen Bridger <br /> <br />Purpose: _X__ Action <br /> _ _ Information only <br /> ____ Information with possible action <br /> <br /> <br />Summary Information: <br />Today’s meeting is the first step in the 2016-2018 Strategic Planning Process. The <br />Board will identify/select 2-3 focus areas for each priority. Then, between the March <br />and May Board of Health meetings, each priority subcommittee will meet to discuss and <br />prioritize action steps for their focus areas, and report their recommended action steps <br />to the Board at the May 2016 Board of Health meeting. Subcommittee meetings will be <br />scheduled in the next two weeks, to take place in April and early May. <br /> <br />Background: <br />The 2015 Community Health Assessment is complete and the resulting priorities are: <br />1) Mental Health/Substance Abuse, <br />2) Social Determinants of Health (e.g., transportation, access to care, poverty), and <br />3) Physical Activity/Nutrition. <br /> <br />Keeping with the precedent from previous Board of Health Strategic Plans, the Chair <br />and Vice-Chair of the Board of Health have decided to adopt the same priorities as the <br />priorities listed above. The Board will go through a prioritization process together to <br />select the focus areas for each priority. Then, each subcommittee will work to select <br />their action steps for the 2016-2018 Board of Health Strategic Plan. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: ___Approve <br /> ___Approve & forward to Board of Commissioners for action <br /> ___Accept as information <br /> ___Revise & schedule for future action <br />_X_Other (detail): Discuss and vote on focus areas for each <br />priority.
