Orange County NC Volunteer Boards and Commissions Job Title: Associate Dean Relevant background, education and experience: My education and experience is in healthcare and business. Additionally, I served as President of the Ann Arbor Recreation & Education Advisory Committee. RAC is a commission of 12 community members, jointly appointed by the Board of Education and City Council, to advise both entities about public recreation matters. The combination of these would bring both compassion and pragmatism to advising the Board of County Commissioners on animal issues and services within the County. Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: I have been a lifelong animal lover, pet parent, and conservationist. I began volunteering at OCAS with my son and have loved the passion that the staff and volunteers bring to it. I have animal knowledge due to my extensive experience with both dog rescue and horse rescue. I have fostered over 30 dogs both in litters and singles in 4 years. I think it is worth noting that I have only adopted 2 of these, with the rest being successfully placed by the Individual rescues. I also have 2 horses of my own and work with Safe Haven to foster horses that need time to heal from either wounds, neglect, or because owners for whatever reason have realized that they can no longer care for them properly. I am a real estate agent /broker and although my license has been inactive for 2 years due to other obligations I realize that property values can be negatively affected if zoning regulations and ordinances are not in place/ enforced. Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: I feel that with my diverse background I can objectively view all aspects and positions of cases that are brought before the board. I can listen, analyze and evaluate each case for human safety, animal safety and rights of property owners. I am equally passionate about all of the above and I realize each case has its own unique circumstances . I will judge each case based on its individual merits.
