In 2018, the BOH will be creating the 2018 -2020 Strategic Plan. As it relates to the BOCC goals and priorities, the BOH expects to: • Explore the intersectionality of racial and health inequities to the services provided at Orange County Health Department and community programs. • Continue to support Family Success Alliance specifically in collaboration with Legal Aide (may require funding) • Provide funding support within the two school districts for programming around nutrition and physical activity (will require funding) What are the concerns or emerging issues your board has identified for the upcoming year that it plans to address, or wishes to bring to the Commissioners' attention? The BOH will continue to pay close attention to issues and concerns on the local, state, and federal level as it relates closely to the Strategic Plan. This includes areas concerning: • Social Determinants of Health — Family Success Alliance, racial and health equity, communication of health information to the public, E- cigarette policies • Physical Activity and Nutrition — Exploration of policies, tools to communicate resources, support provided to the two local school systems • Mental Health and Substance Abuse — Reimbursement around behavioral health, Cardinal Innovation services, screening tools for clients, collaboration with partners within the criminal justice system, follow up on Mental Health Gap Analysis (focus on school - age children)
