32 <br />Brief Statement of Board /Commission's Assigned Charge and Responsibilities. <br />The Affordable Housing Advisory Board (AHAB) advises the Orange <br />County Board of Commissioners on affordable housing issues and works <br />to increase the community's awareness of, understanding of, commitment <br />to and involvement in producing and maintaining sustainable affordable <br />housing. The AHAB also explores new and /or innovative affordable <br />housing strategies and new funding opportunities, as well as monitors the <br />progress of local housing programs. A representative from AHAB sits on <br />the Application Review Committee for the Affordable Housing Bond and <br />Surplus Properties programs. <br />What are your Board /Commission's most important accomplishments? <br />• Providing comments for inclusion in the annual Consolidated Plan/ <br />Action Plan Update for the HOME Program and other community <br />development needs. <br />• Educating newcomers on The AHAB on Orange County's affordable <br />housing issues. <br />• Participating in the Affordable Housing Summit held on February 23, <br />2018 and provided comments and input on affordable housing <br />issues in Orange County. <br />List of Specific Tasks, Events, or Functions Performed or Sponsored Annually. <br />• Review and provide input on the Consolidated Plan /Annual Plan <br />Update and Performance Report. <br />• Monitor the Affordable Housing Bond and other local housing <br />programs. <br />• Review outside funding requests /applications from organizations <br />providing housing services. <br />• Educate the community on affordable housing needs, trends and <br />resources and related partnerships with the towns, public agencies, <br />nonprofits, civic and for - profit organizations. <br />Describe this board /commission's activities /accomplishments in carrying out <br />BOCC goal(s) /priorities, if applicable. <br />The AHAB advises on and supports BOCC affordable housing initiatives, <br />goals and priorities and conducts community outreach to obtain and share <br />resident concerns, comments and ideas for increasing the supply and <br />preserving the existing stock of affordable housing to meet the broad <br />range of needs throughout the County.
