24 <br /> <br />brochures were also redesigned and introduced to provide clarity of service times and other 1 <br />pertinent information. 2 <br /> 3 <br />OCPT added three new 28” Light Transit Vehicles (LTV’s), to expand service delivery and 4 <br />replace older vehicles which has long reached their useful life. 5 <br /> 6 <br />A new route, which had been previously approved, was implemented. The Orange Alamance 7 <br />connector provides midday service from northern Hillsborough out to Cone Health facility in 8 <br />Mebane, then back to southern Hillsborough, and through the heart of the historic downtown 9 <br />area. 10 <br /> 11 <br />The Department on Aging and OCPT, worked collaboratively, and were able to win a challenge 12 <br />grant awarded by the AARP, and purchase new, innovative bus stop signs called Simme Seats. 13 <br />These bus stop signs provide a seating amenity for patrons waiting on buses. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Operations and Performance 16 <br />• In 2017 OCPT successfully completed several key compliance audits, enabling us to 17 <br />continue receiving funding and provide key transportation services to constituents. 18 <br />OCPT successfully passed NC DOT compliance and safety audits. 19 <br />• OCPT also passed Department of Aging contractor audits and Department of Social 20 <br />Services audits as a Medicaid contractor, and was successful in becoming certified as a 21 <br />Medicaid provider. 22 <br /> 23 <br />In an effort to equip our workforce with better skills and training opportunities OCPT became 24 <br />active members of Transit industry organizations such as: APTA (American Public Transit 25 <br />Association), CTAA (Community Transportation Association of America), the National Safety 26 <br />Council, and the Institute of Transportation Engineers. 27 <br /> 28 <br />• Staff also attended various training and industry conferences in Concord, Chapel Hill, 29 <br />Raleigh, NC and Atlanta, GA. We also contracted with a training consultant who 30 <br />provides quarterly, on-site driver skills training, thereby meeting NCDOT training 31 <br />requirements. 32 <br />• To recognize excellence in our workforce we initiated an employee recognition effort: the 33 <br />Employee of the Month program, which recognizes employees who go accident free, 34 <br />have perfect attendance and provided excellent customer service. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Here are the awardees: 37 <br />George Sellars: September 2017 38 <br />Zenda Corbett: October 2017 39 <br />Steve Guild: November 2017 40 <br />Ken Becker: December 2017 41 <br />Robert Locklear: January 2018 42 <br /> 43 <br />Public Outreach 44 <br />OCPT staff participated on and provided presentation to various boards: BOCC, Transit 45 <br />Outboard, Go Triangle DO-LRTP Staff Working Group, Chapel Hill Transit BRT Project Group, 46 <br />Burlington-Graham MPO, DCHC MPO, and supporting the Department on Aging Master plan. 47 <br /> 48 <br />OCPT staff participated and presented at public meetings with civic organizations such as 49 <br />CHALT, the Fairview Community Center, and Cedar Grove Community Center hosting public 50 <br />meetings and forums for the DO-LRT Plan, and the OC Transit Plan. 51
