Raleigh's station differed from the Chapel Hill and
Durham station in several ways - a different manufacturer, and different storage
units (spherical).
Travis Brown, Vehicle Fleet Services Superintendent for the City, met with the
work group and talked about their experiences with CNG vehicles. Raleigh's
rapid-fill station, manufactured by ANSI, was installed in 2001 and currently fuels
xx vehicles in the City fleet. This facility provides 3600 psi fueling and is open
from 7 am-3:30 pm. Other governmental, commercial or private vehicles are
allowed to use the facility, but only with prior authorization and the fuel must be
paid for in the Public Works Vehicle Fleet office. Mr. Brown reported no issues of
concern related to reliability or maintenance of the CNG vehicles or equipment
beyond routine maintenance.
