In addition, he would also provide services to enhance storage of existing,
previously stockpiled County deconstruction materials that were acquired through various other
County deconstruction projects.
Mr. Hendricks proposes to carry out this work for a cost of $1,500 per week ($300/day) for 17
weeks ($25,500), plus $4,000 logistical support costs, to include such expenses as solid waste
fees as well as temporary labor to assist in moving the materials. For comparative purposes,
Mr. Hendricks did the deconstruction work at the old Orange Industries Building on Tryon Street
and two flood-damaged houses in Heritage Hills several years ago at a rate of $350 per day.
Mr. Hendricks has provided proof of liability insurance that would cover his exposures on this
project. Project management responsibilities will be shared among ERCD, Solid Waste
Management Staff, and others as the needs dictate.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: In summer 2004, the County issued two-thirds net debt funding totaling
$4.2 million. A list of the proposed projects to be funded from those monies is included as
Attachment 2 of this abstract. As outlined on that attachment, staff recommends that $300,000
be allocated to the Northern Human Services Center Renovation Project. Funds to cover the
cost of the deconstruction of the old farmhouse would come from the recommended $300,000
allocation. Staff plans an agenda item for the February 15, 2004 BOCC meeting that would
