Revised BG MPO MOU Adding <br />Orange County as a Voting Member <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Abigaile Pittman, 245 -2567 <br />Tom Altieri, 245 -2579 <br />Craig Benedict, 245 -2592 <br />Past agenda material on this item may <br />be found at: <br />http : / /orangecountync.gov /OCCLERKS /12012 <br />48d.pdf <br />PURPOSE: To consider approval of a resolution adding Orange County as a voting <br />member of the Burlington- Graham Metropolitan Planning Organization (BG MPO) to the <br />Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). <br />BACKGROUND: On August 12, 2011, the Chair of the BG MPO Technical Coordinating <br />Committee extended an offer to the County to formally join the MPO. On January 24, 2012 <br />the BOCC passed a resolution requesting representation on the BGMPO Transportation <br />Advisory Committee JAC) and Technical Coordinating Committee (TCC). The BG MPO <br />has amended its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to include Orange County as a <br />voting member. <br />The amended MOU was approved on August 21, 2012 by its Technical Coordinating <br />Committee (TCC) and Teal Transportation Advisory Committee JAC). The MOU <br />must now be circulated and signed by the Mayors or County Commission Chairs of all <br />member jurisdictions (including Orange County), the NC Secretary of Transportation, the <br />NC Assistant Attorney General, and the Federal Highway Administration (FHA) Division <br />Administrator. MOU execution by all member jurisdictions is occurring simultaneously and <br />should be complete before the end of the year. <br />The MOU establishes membership, bylaws, responsibilities and voting structure for the <br />member jurisdictions of the BG MPO. The only revision to the existing MOU document <br />(Attachment 2) has been the addition of Orange County as a member jurisdiction. <br />11 <br />Return to Agenda <br />
