D R A F T <br />1 <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE UNIFIED TRANSPORTATION BOARD <br />MAY 16,2012 <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Nancy Cole Baker, Pedestrian Access & Safety Advocate; Julian (Randy) Marshall, Bingham <br />Township; Alan Campbell, Planning Board Representative; Jeff Charles, Bicycle Advocate; Annette Jurgelski, Eno <br />Township; Renee Price, CfE Representative; Amy Cole, Transit Advocate; <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: Sam Lasris, Cedar Grove Township Representative; Paul Guthrie, Chapel Hill Township; Al <br />Terry, Transportation Services Board; Cheeks Township - Vacant; Economic Development Commission - Vacant; <br />Little River Township-Vacant; Hillsborough Township – Vacant; <br />STAFF PRESENT: Darcy Zorio, Transportation Planner; Tina Love, Administrative Assistant II <br />OTHERS PRESENT:Chuck Edwards, NCDOT <br />AGENDA ITEM I: CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL <br />AGENDA ITEM II: CONSIDERATIONS OF ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA <br />Jeff Charles asked that the OUTBoard send a recommendation to the County Commissioners to endorse the “Share <br />the Road” initiative which is bicycle safety and conversation between bicyclist and automobile drivers. <br />Darcy Zorio reminded the board of a guest speaker and asked that the conversation be continued after the <br />presentation. <br />AGENDA ITEM III: APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR APRIL 18,2011 <br />The OUTBoard minutes from April 18, 2012 were approved by consensus. <br />AGENDA ITEM IV: ORANGE COUNTY PAVING AND CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS <br />The Board will receive updates and information on various paving and construction <br />projects in the county. <br /> OUTBoard Action: Receive updates and information <br />Darcy Zorio invited Chuck Edwards to comment on questions from the board. <br />Jeff Charles asked about the timing of Dairyland. He stated their understanding is the work would be done by August <br />3, 2012. Chuck replied that it would be done. Last year the Secondary Road Program was presented to the BOCC. <br />The focus has been to pave unpaved roads and still is. There are only about four miles of unpaved road so it now <br />includes improvements of paved roads such as widening roads. In general you can ensure you can install two foot <br />paved shoulders and resurface it. He also mentioned the improved bicycle plan which has helped identify some of <br />the roads. Jeff asked about the Dairyland work and the timing because of bicycling plans. Chuck responded that the <br />contractor has a window of time to complete. There is not a specific completion time. He asked if there were specific <br />dates Jeff was referring that he would pass the information on. The information about the progress can come from <br />us to Darcy to you. Darcy Zorio also mentioned Smith Level being part of that.
