Within the county, the Mapdepicts St. Mary’s 43 <br />Road betweentheUS 70 bypass and the Durham County line as a regional bicycle facility. She noted the 44 <br />designation is not consistent with Orange County and Hillsborough’s approved bicycle routes. Shereferred to staff’s 45 <br />comment letter and noted the routes shown on Orange County’s bicycle map, the approved Orange County 46 <br />Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) and The Town of Hillsborough’s Community Connectivity Plan. Abigaile 47 <br />advised the Board that followingits discussion with Dale McKeel it is the Board’s prerogative to review and comment 48 <br />on the DCHC MPO’s designation of St. Mary’s Road as a regional bicycle route from Hillsborough to downtown 49 <br />Durham and noted that it is staff’s recommendationthat the OUTBoard provide input to the DCHC MPO staff 50 <br />consistent with approved Orange County/NCDOT/Town of Hillsborough Bicycle Maps.51 <br />52 <br />Dale McKeelprovided information on thebackground and history of the regional bicycle routes. He noted that St. 53 <br />Mary’s Road was designated as the best direct connection in aprevious plan to connect Hillsborough to Northern 54 <br />Durham and waseventually approvedasa regional route.
