<br />Major Services
<br />x Develop service plans and operate public bus routes for the general public and special
<br />populations.
<br />x Provide medical appointment demand-response service for Orange County residents
<br />outside the Chapel Hill Transit service area.
<br />x Operate the Hillsborough Circulator, Orange-Alamance Connector, Efland-Hillsborough
<br />Commuter Loop, and Cedar Grove-Hillsborough-Chapel Hill Shuttle fixed-route services,
<br />as well as the three (3) general public deviated fixed routes in the County’s rural area
<br />(i.e. Little River Township, Cedar Grove Township, and Bingham Township)
<br />x Develop, implement and monitor the County’s bus service expansion program funded
<br />via 1/2 cent sales tax and vehicle registration revenues.
<br />x Pursue, apply for and administer transit grants through DCHC MPO, NCDOT, PTD and
<br />FTA and report service metrics to NCDOT and National Transit Database (NTD).
<br />x Market all public and paratransit services provided by Orange Public Transportation.
<br />x Implement all safety system policies and procedures required by NCDOT.
<br />x Provide emergency transportation on behalf of Emergency Management (during
<br />disasters, inclement weather, etc.)
<br />x Coordinate with human services such as social service, health, aging and library to offer
<br />transit options.
<br />x Coordinate with planning divisions to access the impacts and responses to new
<br />development and the funding paradigms of both MPO’s Durham and Burlington.
