Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Report Abigaile Pittman, 245-2567 <br />Tom Altieri, 245-2575 <br />Craig Benedict, 245-2585 <br />PURPOSE:Determination of Bicycle Safety Task Force composition membership, charge <br />and term. <br />BACKGROUND:On January 11, 2015, the County Manager met with staff, OUTBoard <br />Chair, and Sheriff. It was agreed that the best way to implement recommendations of the <br />Bicycle Safety Report would be through a Task Force with a defined charge and set term. <br />It was also agreed that the general focus of the Bicycle Safety Task Force should be on <br />education and communication. The Manager requested that the OUTBoard develop <br />recommendations for the membership composition, charge and initial term of a Bicycle <br />Safety Task Force. Staff was instructed to bring the OUTBoard’s recommendations back to <br />the Commissioners at its March 1, 2016 meeting. <br />The BOCC previously considered supporting efforts to increase safety awareness between <br />motorists and bicyclists, roadway safety improvements for bicyclists, and implementation of <br />next steps at its November 5, 2015 meeting.
