Locally-Accessible, <br />Community-Based <br />Transportation <br />ADA/Paratransit ServiceADA/Paratransit Service <br />ORANGE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION (OPT) <br />Complementary Disabled Transportation for Fixed-Route Service <br />Orange Public Transportation (OPT) provides complementary transporta- <br />tion services to eligible individuals with disabilities that prevent them from <br />using the Hillsborough Circulator and Orange-Chapel Hill Midday Connect- <br />or or from accessing those services’ stops. <br />To apply for the service, individuals must <br />demonstrate that: <br />1)He or she is unable to board, ride or dis- <br />embark from the accessible vehicles used <br />to provide the Hillsborough Circulator and <br />Orange-Chapel Hill Midday Connector ser- <br />vices as a result of his or her disability; or <br />2)He or she cannot travel to or from a bus <br />stop because his or her disability prevents <br />it. <br /> Elderly/Disabled Medical Transportation <br />Orange Public Transportation offers Or- <br />ange County elderly (60+) or disabled resi- <br />dents transportation from their residence to <br />their medical care providers or shopping. Shopping trips are limited to once per week, how- <br />ever, medical trips are not limited. A certification form is required to qualify for this transit <br />program. Non-emergency door-to-door transportation to area medical facilities in Orange and <br />Durham counties or to the closest provider can <br />be arranged with two working days notice. Spe- <br />cial rates are available to elderly (60+), disabled, <br />or Medicaid eligible residents. This service is <br />available to the general public on a seat available <br />basis. <br />Senior Center Transportation <br />Daily transportation (Monday through Friday) is <br />provided for seniors (60+) to Orange County Sen- <br />ior Centers for those on the fixed routes. All OPT buses are <br />equipped to accommodate disabled passengers. <br />An Orange Public Transportation Bus arrives at <br />the Central Orange Senior Center, a hub for <br />transportation in Orange County. <br />35
