Locally-Accessible, Community-Based Transportation ADA/Paratransit ServiceADA/Paratransit Service ORANGE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION (OPT) Complementary Disabled Transportation for Fixed-Route Service Orange Public Transportation (OPT) provides complementary transporta- tion services to eligible individuals with disabilities that prevent them from using the Hillsborough Circulator and Orange-Chapel Hill Midday Connect- or or from accessing those services’ stops. To apply for the service, individuals must demonstrate that: 1)He or she is unable to board, ride or dis- embark from the accessible vehicles used to provide the Hillsborough Circulator and Orange-Chapel Hill Midday Connector ser- vices as a result of his or her disability; or 2)He or she cannot travel to or from a bus stop because his or her disability prevents it. Elderly/Disabled Medical Transportation Orange Public Transportation offers Or- ange County elderly (60+) or disabled resi- dents transportation from their residence to their medical care providers or shopping. Shopping trips are limited to once per week, how- ever, medical trips are not limited. A certification form is required to qualify for this transit program. Non-emergency door-to-door transportation to area medical facilities in Orange and Durham counties or to the closest provider can be arranged with two working days notice. Spe- cial rates are available to elderly (60+), disabled, or Medicaid eligible residents. This service is available to the general public on a seat available basis. Senior Center Transportation Daily transportation (Monday through Friday) is provided for seniors (60+) to Orange County Sen- ior Centers for those on the fixed routes. There are two Orange County Senior Centers: Seymour Senior Center (2551 Homestead Rd, Chapel Hill) and Central Orange Senior Center (103 Meadow- lands, Hillsborough).
