Implementation Excerpts from the Report <br />Abigaile Pittman, Transportation/ <br />Land Use Planner, 245-2567 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />PURPOSE: Discussion of the no-cost implementation items from the BSTF Report. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br /> <br />On March 1, 2017, the OUTBoard reviewed and endorsed the Bicycle Safety Task Force <br />Report and forwarded it to the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). At its May 2, <br />2017 meeting, the BOCC received the Report. Through the Report, the BSTF <br />recommends and request a budget of $15,000 for FY 17-18 and appropriate County staff <br />support to launch the campaign. A link for the final BSTF Report is provided above <br />(Attachment 1). <br /> <br />The County Manager has expressed that county staff support will be available to be used to <br />pursue some of the no-cost implementation needs, and to also seek opportunities to work <br />with stakeholders, the Visitors Bureau and other entities to move the campaign forward. <br /> <br />No-cost Implementation Items <br />There are a several 1st year no-cost implementation items from the Report that can be <br />addressed now with County staff (Community Relations Director, Graphics Design <br />Specialist, and Planning Staff) in coordination with the OUTBoard (Attachment 2): <br /> Design of bumper stickers/magnets <br /> Website development (static website with safety information, linked to Chapel <br />Hill/Carrboro websites) <br /> School outreach apps/programs <br /> Social media kickoff (e.g., Orange County Facebook events page) <br /> <br />7
