SRTS Plan (online link) <br />http://www.orangecountync.gov/document_cent <br />er/Transport/Adopted_Safe_Routes_to_School <br />__SRTS__Plan_AdoptedSRTSPlanallchapters. <br />pdf <br /> <br />Abigaile Pittman, Transportation/ <br />Land Use Planner, 245-2567 <br />Max Bushell, Transportation <br />Planner, 245-2579 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />PURPOSE: Discussion of Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Plan implementation. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br /> <br />At its September 21, 2016 meeting the OUTBoard received: <br /> A SRTS Plan Update (Attachment 1); and <br /> A presentation from representatives from the Walkable Hillsborough Coalition <br />regarding the group’s support for moving forward with identified SRTS Plan projects <br />associated with Grady Brown Elementary School and Cedar Ridge High School <br />(Attachment 2). The identified projects included: <br />o Sidewalks along Orange Grove Road from Churton Street to Grady Brown Road; <br />and <br />o Pursuing a local match for Federal funding and clearly identifying preliminary <br />critical path steps. <br /> <br />Discussions with the OUTBoard also addressed other related projects: <br /> Improving safety on the bridge with side fencing (in lieu of a complete bridge <br />replacement or pedestrian retrofit accommodation); and <br /> Crosswalks on Grady Brown Road and on Orange Grove Road over to Oakdale <br />Drive. <br /> <br /> 65
