Since my youngest son left for college this fall I've been seeking <br />a new opportunity to volunteer. I feel serving on this Task Force will call on my expertise <br />and my interest in local community economic development issues. Helped launch NC Community Facilities Fund, specialized <br />lender to childcare businesses and nonprofits. Extensive experience with community <br />development finance, commercial lending. and nonprofit management. 1996-1998, <br />Business Manager, Passage Home Community Development Corporation, Raleigh, NC. <br />Streamlined accounting and reporting systems. Prepared annual budgets, monitored <br />monthly budgets. Assisted Executive Director with strategic and managerial issues. 1999- <br />2000, Free-Lance Consulting. Primary clients included smart growth real estate <br />developer in Weaverville, NC and Public and Media Affairs Company in Chicago, IL, <br />specializing in communications for public-private partnerships. Current: Initiating <br />development of 9 unit residential neighborhood in Orange County. Plan to include 1 or 2 <br />units of affordable housing. VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE: Currently tutoring middle <br />school student in math and adult learner in literacy skills. 1997-2000, ABODE, initial <br />steering committee and Board of Directors. Served &#8211; fall of 1999 - as <br />ABODE&#8217;s representative to Orange County Staff Committee that reviewed and <br />ranked requests for funding from affordable housing bond money.
