Suspects may have <br />had giardia, altitude sickness or crypto. <br />Period of infectiousness for crypto was over <br />by the time investigation initiated. <br />Pertussis- Culbreth/Carrboro High 10/4- <br />11/16/2014 <br />4 confirmed 7 suspects <br />ruled out <br />11 close contacts to 4 confirmed cases, <br />all given PEP. <br />Approx. 255 classmates and teachers <br />(casual contacts); 2 Religious Exempt, 2 <br />Medical Exempt contacts did not need to <br />be excluded and were not infected. <br />Noro-like illness-Project Homestart 11/14- <br />11/20/14 <br />0 confirmed 5 suspect Approx. 50 residents/staff. Illness <br />limited to two rooms in 1 building. <br />Pertussis-private pre-school 11/25-12/8 1 case/ <br />(Durham Co) <br />2 suspects- <br />tested neg., <br />but <br />symptomatic <br />Approx. 40 contacts at school between 3 <br />yr old and 4 yr old classrooms. <br />Flu in Long Term Care Facility 12/2014 11 cases 1 hospitalized; 5 contacts treated <br />prophylactically and did not develop <br />disease <br /> *Illness with similar symptoms noted but the cause and source were never identified. There was an increased absenteeism during this time with reports of both respiratory and GI illnesses. <br /> Control measures implemented and absenteeism tracked. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
