MAIN APPLICATION <br />Community Education: Offered as requested throughout the year. Generally offer 6 -15 <br />presentations monthly. <br />Professional Workshops: Offered as requested throughout the year. Generally offer 2 -4 <br />presentations monthly. <br />Women's History Month: March is national Women's History Month. Staff, community partners <br />and volunteers begin planning events, constructing a community calendar, and outlining marketing <br />for the month the previous December, and then meet monthly to coordinate plans. <br />Equal Pay Day: held on a Tuesday in April each year, created by the National Committee on Pay <br />Equity in 1996 to raise awareness about the difference in men's and women's wages. Tuesday <br />was selected to represent how far into the work week women must work to earn what men earned <br />the previous week. Staff, community partners and volunteers begin planning an event and <br />outlining marketing for the day in the previous January, and then meet monthly to coordinate <br />plans. <br />Domestic Violence Awareness Month: October is national Domestic Violence Awareness Month. <br />Staff, community partners and volunteers begin planning events, constructing a community <br />calendar, and outlining marketing for the month the previous July /August, and then meet monthly <br />to coordinate plans. <br />Volunteer Training: Compass Center conducts in -depth volunteer trainings for our Domestic <br />Violence and Information and Referral volunteers. Domestic Violence Hotline trainings consist of <br />42 total hours and First Response volunteers for the Information and Referral Line consist of 17 <br />hours; both occur in the fall and spring. <br />g) Provide a bulleted list of other agencies, if any, with which your agency <br />coordinates /collaborates to accomplish or enhance the Projected Results in the Program(s) <br />to be funded. For each, give specific examples of the coordinated /collaborative efforts. <br />• Chapel Hill - Carrboro City Schools: We deliver youth interpersonal violence prevention <br />education (Start Strong) in health classes. <br />• Orange County Rape Crisis Center: Collaborative partner in providing Start Strong curricula for <br />6`h through 9`h grade. We work with youth in 6th and 8`h grade and OCRCC works with them in <br />7`h and 9`h. We created a fluid curricula and evaluate the program together. <br />• University if North Carolina's Department of Women and Gender Studies: collaborate on <br />Women's History Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month events. <br />• North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence: Collaborate to offer professional trainings <br />on interpersonal violence and provide staff training on evidence -based practices. <br />• Johnson Service Corps: Provide infrastructure to support an Information and Referral Specialist <br />position. <br />• Numerous non - profit and government agencies and community groups request our <br />professional and community education programming for their constituents to be able to better <br />respond to their own clients or situations. <br />h) Describe what would happen if requested funding is not awarded at all or if a reduced <br />allocation is recommended. <br />Since the majority of the cost of these programs is personnel expenses to deliver services and train <br />and supervise volunteers, if this funding was reduced we would likely not restructure by adding an <br />Johnson Service Corps. intern position and possibly be in a situation of reducing our current force. <br />This would mean fewer clients being served and fewer youth and adult education presentations. It <br />would inhibit us from maintaining our agreements with Chapel Hill - Carrboro City schools to deliver <br />youth education in compliance with the Healthy Youth Act.
