<br />needing assistance in addressing the needs of a victim. We refer batterers to batterers intervention
<br />programs and other services that might be helpful to them. We never have waiting lists.
<br />e) Who specifically will carry out the activities and in what location will they be carried out?
<br />The Domestic Violence Crisis Services Program is staffed by the following personnel: Associate
<br />Director, Director of Domestic Violence Crisis Services, Director of Court Advocacy and Community
<br />Response, Support Group Coordinator, Director of Latino Services, and the Client Services
<br />Specialist. They train and supervise the following volunteer positions: daytime and overnight hotline
<br />advocates, court advocates, support group facilitators, child care volunteers and interpreters.
<br />Services are provided at our offices at 210 Henderson St. in Chapel Hill, on -site at the courthouse
<br />in Hillsborough, and at other locations in the community as needed such as the hospital, medical
<br />offices, police stations, mental health clinics, etc.
<br />f) Describe specifically the period over which the activities will be carried out, the frequency
<br />with which the activities will be carried out, and the frequency with which services will be
<br />delivered. Include an implementation timeline.
<br />Dedicated 24 -hour domestic violence hotline: In operation 24 hours per day 365 days per year.
<br />Court advocacy services: Trained staff will accompany victims to criminal and civil domestic
<br />violence court held weekly in Hillsborough. Clients get assistance with obtaining domestic violence
<br />protective orders, help in filing for victims' compensation through the state and are educated about
<br />legal rights and remedies daily as part of our hotline and in- person services.
<br />Support Groups: Will be offered throughout the year with staggered start times so that interested
<br />clients can quickly access group support. Generally groups start in September, October, January,
<br />February, March and June. Most last 8 weeks.
<br />Access to safe shelter: Hotline advocates help clients find emergency shelter 24 -hours per day 365
<br />days per year.
<br />Many clients are seen during in- person appointments on business days.
<br />g) Provide a bulleted list of other agencies, if any, with which your agency
<br />coordinates /collaborates to accomplish or enhance the Projected Results in the Program(s)
<br />to be funded. For each, give specific examples of the coordinated /collaborative efforts.
<br />We continue to recognize that the best response to domestic violence is a community -wide,
<br />coordinated response. Our past and ongoing collaborative relationships with numerous
<br />organizations, to ensure necessary services for our clients, include local law enforcement agencies,
<br />the District Attorney's Office, the Orange County Department of Social Services (DSS), Inter -Faith
<br />Council (IFC), Legal Aid of North Carolina, UNC Hospital's Beacon Child and Family Program, the
<br />Orange County Rape Crisis Center, Freedom House, UNC Office of the Dean of Students, UNC
<br />School of Law's Domestic Violence Advocacy Project (DVAP), El Centro Hispano, El Futuro, NC
<br />Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and domestic violence agencies in neighboring counties.
<br />Some specific examples of ongoing collaborative efforts include:
<br />• Over the past 2.5 years, Compass Center has successfully reinstituted the Orange County
<br />Domestic Violence Task Force. This is based on the effective coordinated community
<br />response model of engagement and problem solving between agencies that interact with
<br />victims of domestic violence. This includes law enforcement, Legal Aid, victim advocates,
<br />DSS, crisis unit personnel, medical personnel, batterer's intervention program staff,
<br />magistrates, school personnel, etc. The task force meets monthly.
<br />• Cross - referrals and training with Orange County Rape Crisis Center, UNC's Beacon
<br />Program, CH -TOP Early Head Start/Head Start, local schools, DSS, Durham Crisis
<br />Response Center, Family Violence and Rape Crisis Services of Chatham County and
<br />Interact of Wake County.
