Health Director’s (Final…) Report
February, 2017
• I had the following items on my list of things to finish/shore up prior to my departure:
o Accreditation – Done
o Annual Report – Done
o Mental Health Gap Analysis – Done with report to the BOCC on 2-21
o BUILD Grant – Due 2-21. Great work/plan being overseen by Coby
o Gateway HUD meeting – Scheduled 2-23
o Budget – Being presented to BOH 2-22
• I met with Dorothy last week to orient her to any pending issues/changes since she was
here last.
• I met with our newest Board member, Jennifer Deyo (pharmacist rep) and conducted
her new BOH member orientation. I also sent her the latest on the HD recruitment, so
she is in the loop. She will be joining us for the meeting next week. There was an issue
with the BOH’s recommendation for the at-large appointment. I hope we’ll have that
resolved by the 21st.
• #OWASAWATER as it is affectionately known has dominated things since 2-3. I sent you
an update last week and the bulk of the work now is: 1) supporting OWASA in their
community presentations (Chamber meeting last week and Chapel Hill Town Council
Monday night, BOCC 2-21); 2) dealing with the anti-fluoride cabal and 3) working with
the EOC to identify lessons learned and how to improve our next response.
