Literature on Aerosol: Surgeon <br />General’s Report <br />•Cited much of the science of the two previous articles, coming to the same conclusion: <br />–E-cigarette aerosol is not harmless and exposes bystanders to elevated: <br />•Heavy metals <br />•VOCs- formaldehyde, acrolein, acetaldehyde <br />•Nicotine <br />•Fine and ultrafine particulate <br />•Additional key points: <br />–Number of e-cigarette users present, type of device and its emission rates, e-liquid ingredients, and amount of aerosol the user exhales all effect what is released into air to bystanders <br />–Scientific instruments used to analysis particulate matter may not be reliable for e-cigarette analysis <br />–Studies have not accounted for prolonged and persistent passive exposure
