4/19/17 <br /> 2 <br /> <br />Board of County <br />Commissioners <br /> <br />Social <br />Determinants of <br />Health <br />SAMH <br /> <br />• At the September 29th meeting, Colleen Bridger gave a <br />detailed presentation to the BOCC on the Family Success <br />Alliance. <br />• During the November 1st meeting, Coby Jansen Austin <br />presented Five-Year Budget Projections presentation to the <br />BOCC. <br />• The board passed a resolution at the November 15th meeting <br />in support of Equal Rights Amendment which supports equal <br />rights for all residents of Orange County. <br />• During the February 21st meeting, Colleen Bridger, presented <br />the Mental Health Gap Analysis Results and Prioritized <br />Recommendations to the BOCC. <br />Chapel Hill Town <br />Council <br />N/A <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Carrboro Board <br />of Aldermen <br /> <br />Physical Activity <br />and Nutrition; <br />SAMH <br /> <br />• During the September 6th meeting, a resolution of support for <br />local transportation projects was passed. This resolution included <br />Carrboro’s interest in bicycle and pedestrian improvements. The <br />town submitted seven bike-ped projects for funding through the <br />State Transportation Improvement Program, three of which may <br />be funding. Those three include bike-ped improvements on <br />Estes Drive, sidewalk installation on Jones Ferry Rd., and <br />sidewalk installation on Barnes St. <br />• Carrboro Farmers Market supports Town Commons proposed <br />improvement as they will allow the market to be viable for years <br />to come. The market also has a new manager, LaShauna Austria. <br />• A motion was made during the January 17th meeting to update <br />the language in the Community Climate Action Plan – <br />Transportation Recommendation #2: Improve Bicycle and <br />Pedestrian Infrastructure. It is essential to improve Carrboro’s <br />bicycling and pedestrian infrastructure and safety in combination <br />with stewardship of the forests and creeks. <br />• Carrboro continues to support and assist Club Nova in <br />improving the lives of people with mental illness. <br />• During the February 10th Carrboro released a list of advocacy <br />goals that plans to support on the state level including: <br />o Opposing bills that discriminate against LGBT <br />communities <br />o Supporting legislation that provide protection for the <br />LGBT community <br />o Oppose legislation that eliminates the EPA <br />o Oppose healthcare reform that would fully repeal the <br />ACA
