Install copper step flashing, valleys, and trim flashing in conjunction with slate roofing. <br />M. Nail holes that must be field punched shall be punched from the back of the slate so as to <br />provide proper countersinking of the fastener. <br />N. All slate shall be cut from the back side so as to produce the proper orientation of the <br />beveled edge. <br />3.06 Valleys <br />A. At valleys, slate shall be installed to result in open valleys. The width of the valley shall <br />taper from top to bottom at the rate of 1/2 inch in 10 feet (1/4 inch in 10 feet on each side of <br />valley). <br />B. Width of the valley at the top shall be 2 inches minimum. Slate shall overlap metal valley a <br />minimum of 6 inches. <br />3.07 Repair <br />A. Upon completion, all slate shall be sound, whole, clean, and the roof left in every respect <br />tight. <br />B. No slate with a broken corner larger than 2 inches by 2 inches shall remain in the finished <br />roof.
