Deputy Sheriff I Class Code: <br />1521 <br />ORANGE COUNTY GOVERNMENT <br />Revision Date: Jun 1, 2017 <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$38,051.00 - $62,351.00 Annually <br />DESCRIPTION: <br />Responsible for providing protective service work in the Sheriff's Department. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: <br />Examples of Essential Functions <br />A position may not include all the work examples given, nor does the list include all that may be <br />assigned. <br />Performs routine patrol operations in the county including: watching for unusual or suspicious activities, <br />responding to calls, preparing detailed reports, serving arrest warrants, summons, and subpoenas. <br />Provides traffic enforcement including traffic stops, writing citations, investigating and reporting traffic <br />accidents. <br />Serves as a School Resource Officer, ensuring a safe school environment by directing traffic at school, <br />responding to incidents that occur on school grounds, maintaining securing checks, and providing school <br />training in drug abuse resistance and gang resistance issues. <br />Supervision <br />Assignments are provided by indicating generally what is to be done. Quality and quantity expectations are <br />provided. Additional details are provided for new, difficult, or unusual problems.
