3 <br /> <br />Describe this board/commission’s activities/accomplishments in carrying out <br />BOCC goal(s)/priorities, if applicable. <br />The Planning Board is involved in the ongoing implementation of the 2030 <br />Comprehensive Plan. Potential projects listed in the “UDO Implementation <br />Bridge,” continue to be worked on as do small area plan implementation <br />measures. The Implementation Bridge is a list of topics that were raised <br />during the UDO adoption process in 2010-11 that further the goals and <br />objectives of the Comprehensive Plan through the UDO. <br /> <br /> <br />Describe the collaboration relationship(s) this particular board has with other <br />advisory boards and commissions? <br />Currently, the Planning Board includes a member who also serves the <br />Commission for the Environment. There is a position on the Board of <br />Adjustment for a Planning Board member but that position is currently <br />unfilled. Three members of the Planning Board have expressed interest in <br />serving on the Board of Adjustment and discussion over who could better <br />serve in the position has occurred. In 2016, there was not direct <br />collaboration with other advisory board (e.g., joint meetings). <br /> <br />If your board/commission played the role of an Element Lead Advisory Board <br />involved in the 2030 Comprehensive Plan preparation process, please indicate <br />your board’s activities/accomplishments as they may relate to the <br />Comprehensive Plan’s goals or objectives. <br />(The Element Lead Advisory Boards include: Planning Board, EDC, OUTBoard, <br />Commission for the Environment, Historic Preservation Commission, Agriculture <br />Preservation Board, Affordable Housing Board, Recreation and Parks Advisory <br />Council) <br />The processing of small area plan recommendations specifically addresses <br />an objective included in the 2030 Comprehensive Plan. Following are <br />specific Comprehensive Plan Goals and Objectives that have been part of <br />the Planning Board’s recent work: <br /> <br />Land Use Overarching Goal: Coordination of the amount, location, <br />pattern and designation of future land uses, with availability of County <br />services and facilities sufficient to meet the needs of Orange County’s <br />population and economy consistent with other Comprehensive Plan <br />element goals and objectives. <br /> <br />Objective LU-1.1: Coordinate the location of higher intensity / high <br />density residential and non-residential development with existing or <br />planned locations of public transportation, commercial and <br />community services, and adequate supporting infrastructure (i.e., <br />water and sewer, high-speed internet access, streets, and <br />sidewalks), while avoiding areas with protected natural and cultural <br />resources.
