MINUTES-Draft <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH <br /> January 24, 2018 <br />S:\Managers Working Files\BOH\Agenda & Abstracts\2018 Agenda & Abstracts/ January Page 3 <br /> Forms were reviewed to determine the necessary information needed on the forms and <br />by marking items that are not required “optional”. <br /> “Know Your Rights” cards which inform people of their rights as well as guidance for staff <br />when dealing with law enforcement when they come to the clinics are examples of some <br />of the informative documents that the taskforce has helped to develop. <br />• Moving Forward <br /> Continue to identify more collaboration opportunities. <br /> UNC/Town of Chapel Hill are working together in an initiative to address the needs of <br />foreign-born and refugee communities in town. <br /> Looking for funding for trauma-informed interpreter training. <br /> <br />The BOH had questions that were addressed by Ms. Clifford. <br /> <br />C. Workplace Safety <br /> <br />Carla Julian, Dental Clinic Practice Manager, HIPAA Privacy and Security Officer, presented on <br />the activities of the health department’s Workplace Safety Program. Below is a summary of her <br />presentation. <br /> <br />• Orange County New Employee Orientation (NEO) <br /> Topics covered include workplace harassment prevention and violence prevention. <br />There is also an initial orientation and basic safety checklist included in the county’s risk <br />manager’s presentation. <br />• OCHD NEO and Annual Training <br /> Topics include workplace violence prevention, incident reporting, respiratory protection <br />plan training, bloodborne pathogens and personal protective equipment for staff with <br />exposure risk and fire plan. <br />• Emergency Action Plan (EAP) <br /> All departments are required to complete an EAP. The EAP details the recommended <br />actions employees are to take in response to emergency situations such as evacuations, <br />shelter-in-place, workplace violence/active assailant, weather emergencies, etc. <br />• Activities in 2017 <br /> Panic buttons were installed in the medical and dental clinics in February. <br /> Active assailant training taught by the Sheriff’s department’s Troy Comar was held at the <br />SHSC in March. <br /> Classroom de-escalation training was held for the Personal Health Services division in <br />June. <br /> Active assailant tabletop for the Personal Health Services division was held with Troy <br />Comar in August. <br /> EAP training was conducted by Orange County in September. <br />• What’s Next <br /> Minimum of quarterly Safety Committee meetings. <br /> Quarterly workplace safety assessments. <br /> Address and look for trends in accident incident reports. <br /> Encourage participation in county-offered active assailant and EAP training. <br /> <br />D. and E. 2nd Quarter Billing Dashboard and Financial Reports <br /> <br />Rebecca Crawford, Financial and Administrative Services Director, gave a report on the 2nd <br />quarter revenue and billing accuracy.
