(See <br />Attachment 1, column 2) <br /> <br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br />applicable to this agenda item: <br />• GOAL: FOSTER A COMMUNITY CULTURE THAT REJECTS OPPRESSION <br />AND INEQUITY <br />The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race or <br />color; religious or philosophical beliefs; sex, gender or sexual orientation; national <br />origin or ethnic background; age; military service; disability; and familial, residential <br />or economic status. <br /> <br />All of the additional funding available to the Department on Aging supports the <br />maintenance/expansion of its programs and services. While available to all Orange <br />County residents age 60 years and older, the target population for these services is those <br />residents in greatest social and economic need. <br /> <br />• GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br />The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br />necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br />themselves and their dependents. <br /> <br />This provides low cost medical care. <br /> <br />Animal Services <br />3. Orange County Animal Services has received an additional $3,000 from the Community <br />Giving Fund to cover the cost of the 2017 Pat Sanford Animal Welfare Award ($500), and <br />to cover the cost of heartworm treatments ($2,500) for the remainder of the fiscal year. <br />This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds. (See <br />Attachment 1, column 3) <br /> <br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact <br />associated with this agenda item. <br /> <br /> <br />2
