31 <br /> <br /> GOAL10: Encourage and support intergovernmental <br />coordination, cooperation and collaboration in the <br />provision of affordable housing in Orange County <br />recognizing the greatest success, efficiencies and <br />benefit County and region wide to all our current and <br />future residents will be achieved through multi- <br />jurisdictional efforts now and into the future. <br /> <br />Strategies Action/Recommendation <br />10.1: Continue to expand collaboration among staff, <br />communities, educational institutions and elected officials of <br />municipalities in the region to meet the critical human and <br />region wide need of affordable housing and to support where <br />feasible the goals and strategies of this Strategic Plan. <br /> <br />10.2: Continue to build on the relationships between the <br />County and Towns and neighboring jurisdictions as applicable <br />to ensure that future housing meets the broad range of needs <br />of our communities and that these needs are met in the most <br />efficient, effective, and equitable manner, and that new <br />affordable housing developments and improvements enhance <br />the County’s and each municipalities’ unique quality of life and <br />community character. <br /> <br />10.3: Work collaboratively with municipal partners, the <br />university community, the nonprofit community and the private <br />sector to develop effective outreach and community building <br />strategies that increase public, private and for-profit <br />investment and support for affordable housing in the region. <br />AR32: Continue and strengthen the <br />County’s and Towns’ joint assessment <br />and planning to obtain federal and other <br />funding and public and private resources <br />sources to provide assistance as needed <br />to households earning lower incomes <br />and or to residents with special needs <br />and to our extremely vulnerable <br />residents. <br /> <br />AR33: Continue collaboration and <br />information exchange and to seek <br />opportunities for joint efforts between <br />the jurisdictions in addressing <br />community needs and in maximizing <br />utilization of resources and community <br />benefit. This includes where feasible <br />funding, planning, training, problem <br />solving, civic engagement and <br />identifying and building other <br />community partnerships as needed to <br />meet affordable housing and related <br />community wide needs. <br /> 146
