Article 10: Definitions <br /> Section 10.1: Definitions <br /> <br />Orange County, North Carolina – Unified Development Ordinance Page 10-46 <br /> <br />Sign, Special Event Displays or Signs <br />Signs or other attention grabbing devices such as pennants, flags, streamers, and other similar items that <br />are designed to call attention to a special event and are only intended to be utilized on a temporary basis. <br /> Examples of special event displays or signs include: <br /> <br />Sign, Three-Dimensional <br />A sign that has height, depth and breadth that incorporates an <br />object into an advertising sign (e.g., a three dimensional <br />hamburger or life-sized pig advertising a food place). <br /> An example of a three-dimensional sign includes: <br /> <br /> <br />Sign, Time and Temperature <br />A sign containing illuminated numerals, which may flash alternately, to show the time and/or temperature. <br />Sign, Trailer <br />A sign mounted on a vehicle normally licensed by the state of North Carolina as a trailer and used <br />principally for advertising or promotional purposes. <br />Sign, Wall <br />A sign painted or mounted on the wall of a building <br />or structure. Wall signs can be comprised of reader <br />boards or changeable copy signs. A wall sign can <br />contain letters, symbols, trademarks, or other similar <br />graphic representations designed to represent the <br />name of an operation normally erected on the front <br />or side of a structure. <br /> <br /> <br />Sign, Window <br />A sign erected on the interior side of a window of a place of business advertising any service, product, <br />special, or sale conducted within the business where it is located.
