Article 10: Definitions <br /> Section 10.1: Definitions <br /> <br />Orange County, North Carolina – Unified Development Ordinance Page 10-40 <br /> <br />Sign, Digital; Digital Display <br />A form of electronic display that shows information, advertising, and otheror messages utilizing LCD <br />(Liquid Clear Display), LED (Light Emitting Diode), plasma displays, or involves the projection of an image <br />onto a building or the surface area of a structure, which shall include a sign as defined herein. <br />Sign, Directional/Informational, On-site <br />An on-premise sign giving directions, instructions or facility information and which may contain the name <br />or logo of an establishment but no advertising copy (e.g., parking or exit and entrance signs). <br />Examples of on-site directional/information signs include: <br /> <br />Sign, Directory <br />A sign on which the names and locations of <br />occupants or the uses of a building is given. This <br />shall include office buildings and church directories <br /> <br /> <br />Sign, Double-Faced <br />A sign with two faces. <br />Sign, Drive-Through Menu Board <br />An outdoor menu for establishments offering service <br />via a drive through window. These signs shall not be <br />considered a ground or monument sign. <br /> <br /> <br />Sign, Electronic Changeable Message <br />An electronically activated sign whereby the message content or display, either wholly or in part, may be <br />changed by means of electrical, electronic, or computerized program. <br />Sign, to Erect <br />To build, construct, attach, hang, place, suspend, or affix a sign. <br />Sign, Exempt <br />All signs for which permits are not required but which must, nonetheless, conform to the other terms and <br />conditions of Section 6.12. <br /> 47 47
