Other Public Parks and Recreation <br /> Services Offered in Orange County Continued <br /> <br />The Town of Chapel Hill Parks & Recreation pro- <br />grams and services include Aquatics, Athletics, Festi- <br />vals and Events, Adapted Recreation & Inclusion and <br />Special Olympics. The Town has many parks, green- <br />ways, and trail systems in addition to indoor and <br />outdoor swimming pools. <br />For more information go to: <br />http://www.ci.chapel-hill.nc.us/index.aspx?page=74 <br /> <br />Chapel Hill’s Homestead Aquatic Center (above) was <br />partially funded with $4.9 million from 2001 and <br />1997 Orange County alternative financing and voter- <br />approved Parks and Open Space bonds. <br /> <br />The map below shows in gray, the town limits for <br />each of the municipalities within Orange County. <br />Each town has parks and recreation facilities and/or <br />programs. The towns make up 61% of Orange <br />County’s total population. <br /> <br />The Town of Carrboro’s Department of Recreation <br />and Parks offers many of the same types of activities <br />including Athletics, Special Events, Classes for Youth <br />and Teens, Classes for Adults, Senior Programs, <br />Hikes and Day Trips, Special Recreation and Senior <br />Games. <br />Carrboro’s website includes more information at: <br />http://www.carrbororec.org <br /> <br />The Town of Hillsborough does not have a parks and <br />recreation department but the Town operates <br />several parks. Hillsborough relies on its volunteer <br />Parks and Recreation Board to provide guidance on <br />Town-owned parks.
