The <br />elementary school was constructed in the late 1950s and expanded in the 1970s. Following the purchase of <br />an adjacent parcel the Community Center was constructed in 1992. Phase 1 of the new park was completed <br />in 2000, and consisted of a multf-purpose playing field, paved walking track, picnic shelter, two lighted <br />basketball courts, and parking areas. Phase 2 was completed in 2006 with a playground, small picnic shelter, <br />lightfng for the ball field, and additfonal parking. Since then County staff developed a walking trail through <br />the adjacent woodlands and a youth ball field north of the school. <br /> <br />Location / Users: <br />Efland-Cheeks Community–School Park is located adjacent to Efland-Cheeks Elementary School in a rural area <br />six miles west of the Town of Hillsborough.
