Because of the variability and periodic change in <br />community needs and desires for recreation pro- <br />grams, it is recommended that planning for future <br />recreation programs be wholly accomplished via <br />Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation staff <br />research and recommendations and periodic needs <br />Example: Number of District Parks Needed (using 1988 Master Plan Standards) <br />Issue: Determine how many district parks are needed for: (a) 2012 (present), and (b), the plan target year of 2030. <br />Standard: 5 acres per 1,000 population, servicing an area between 10,000 to 50,000 persons <br />(design population = 30,000).
