Are you now retired? <br />Thomas West: Since 2002. <br />Nick Herman: Where were you employed before you retired? <br />Thomas West: Durham Police Department. <br />Nick Herman: In what capacity. <br />Thomas West: I was in uniform patrol. <br />Nick Herman: Is your wife employed? <br />Thomas West: Yes sir. <br />Nick Herman: Where is she employed? <br />Thomas West: Durham Police Department. <br />Nick Herman: What does she do for them? <br />Thomas West: She is a homicide investigator. <br />Nick Herman: When is her retirement on the horizon? <br />Thomas West: Three years. <br />Nick Herman: How is it that you came about trying to make this application? <br />Thomas West: After I retired in 2002, I and my wife started working for different rescue groups rescuing animals, <br />cats and dogs, from shelters about to be euthanized for rescue groups. They would get the place while we held <br />them as foster. We did this for nine years and wanted to go ahead and build a kennel because we are so familiar <br />with animals. <br />Nick Herman: This facility is a boarding facility? <br />Thomas West: Yes sir. <br />Nick Herman: And a grooming facility?
