Approved 7/8/2013 <br />OC Board of Adjustment – 6/10/2013 Page 90 of 92 <br /> 1 <br />Samantha Cabe: Did you do it then, after the public hearing or did you do it at the community 2 <br />meeting? 3 <br /> 4 <br />Greg Dixon: The community meeting was just Tuesday, less than a week ago but upon getting this 5 <br />information, we have a small sign on side of the road that you can barely read with a trash bag over it. 6 <br />That is the meeting advertising requirement but you literally have to stop on an 18 foot wide road to 7 <br />try to read this and that is the only notice. Granted we had a little balloon flying but do a lot of people 8 <br />understand what that means, I don’t think so. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Samantha Cabe: When did you do the community meeting? 11 <br /> 12 <br />Karen Kemerait: Tuesday night. In addition, we sent certified letters as required by the ordinance. 13 <br />We provided certified letters on April 3 to all property owners within 1,000 feet of the tower site as 14 <br />required by the ordinance and that was to advise of the balloon test that was in support of the 15 <br />application and we published notices in the two newspapers and then in addition, I provided my own 16 <br />letter about the meeting asking those 1,000 feet of the tower site and invited them to come to the 17 <br />community meeting. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Samantha Cabe: What were the dates? 20 <br /> 21 <br />Karen Kemerait: I sent the letter out of May 28 and the community meeting was held on June 4 and 22 <br />that is what my office did and in addition to that I know there were requirements that the planning 23 <br />staff is required to do as far as providing the notice. I can only speak to what my office did and those 24 <br />were the notices in the two different newspapers, the certified letters and the community meeting and 25 <br />the letters regarding the community meeting in addition to the site that had been posted. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Samantha Cabe: I thought I heard you say you did that in April. 28 <br /> 29 <br />James Carter: Mr. Dixon, in your petition, how many of those people are here tonight? 30 <br /> 31 <br />Greg Dixon: We signed it here so they are all here. 32 <br /> 33 <br />Mark Micol: You just decided tonight to ask for the 30 day extension? 34 <br /> 35 <br />Greg Dixon: I have been speaking with Mr. Harvey as soon as I found out about the public hearing; I 36 <br />literally took a week off work to work on the letter. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Mark Micol: Have you been in contact with the attorney or has this attorney tried to contact the 39 <br />county? 40 <br /> 41 <br />Michael Harvey: I have not been in contact with any other counsel in this case except Ms. Kemerait. 42 <br />I have spoken to Mr. Dixon at length on several occasions since notice of the hearing was sent out. 43 <br /> 44 <br />Greg Dixon: There aren’t any local attorneys I could find with the experience with cell towers so I had 45 <br />to look elsewhere so it just took time. I’m a poor person, he is talking about $400,000 houses, and 46 <br />we live in trailers over there. It is hard for a person on a fixed income, not everybody lives in trailers, 47 <br />there are some homes there but I personally live in a trailer, my income is limited, it is hard to hire an 48 <br />attorney. 49 <br /> 50 <br />Larry Wright: It is time for the Board to have a discussion on this.
