Approved 3113117 <br />1 <br />2 David Haughney: Yes, I've been sworn. <br />3 <br />4 Laura Goode: And what do you do for a living? <br />5 <br />6 David Haughney: I'm an RF engineer for Verizon Wireless. It stands for radio frequency. <br />7 <br />8 Laura Goode: And can you explain what your job involves? <br />9 <br />10 David Haughney: I'm specifically a design engineer in the Triangle area for Verizon, it involves <br />11 identifying new coverage and capacity including so needed where the demand is highest, where <br />12 they would benefit us the most, and then design and work into the deploy those projects. <br />13 <br />14 Laura Goode: How long have you been doing this job? <br />15 <br />16 David Haughney: A very long time. In the Triangle area alone 17 years or RF Engineering and <br />17 technical work. <br />18 <br />19 Laura Goode: What other experience, training, or education do you have that prepared you for <br />20 this job? <br />21 <br />22 David Haughney: My entire career, basically. I was trained in electronics technology in high school <br />23 and graduated high school with a full time job repairing electronic circuit boards at the component <br />24 level. And then went on to further my training and experience in the United States Army, in military <br />25 communications. And have worked in the wireless industry my entire career. <br />26 <br />27 Laura Goode: At this time I respectfully request that this Board accept David Haughney as an <br />28 expert in the area of radio frequency engineering and determining network objectives in the <br />29 explore of new wireless telecommunications facilities... So we've talked a little bit already about <br />30 the network objective for this site and the propegation maps. The propegation maps that were <br />31 submitted as Exhibit 7 to the application, did you prepare those maps? <br />32 <br />33 David Haughney: Yes I did. <br />34 <br />35 Laura Goode: And can you explain a little bit about what those propegation maps mean? <br />36 <br />37 David Haughney: The propegation maps are generated from a highly specialized tool that's really <br />38 only used by people with my title, in my industry, to predict how the network is performing and to <br />OC Board of Adjustment — 12/12/16 Page 36 of 156 <br />
