Like I said, a cell tower can go out 22 -miles and you can focus it. So I don't see why <br />3 you couldn't co- locate on any of those existing towers. Why does it have to be a new tower built in <br />4 this location? <br />5 <br />6 Michael Harvey: I think just for clarification purposes the engineer can't quote a section of the <br />7 Unified Development Ordinance requiring a 5 -mile search ring. The Unified Development <br />8 Ordinance requires a 2 -mile search ring. <br />9 <br />10 John Price: I think... <br />11 <br />12 Michael Harvey: So I think we need to stick with the facts of the Unified Development Ordinance <br />13 under which this application's being reviewed. <br />14 <br />15 John Price: I think he misunderstood. <br />16 <br />17 Ben Levitan: I ......... <br />18 <br />19 Samantha Cabe: I just wanted to make sure... we can move on, I just felt like you were making <br />20 statements about what was and wasn't there without actually looking at it or knowing what the <br />21 search ring was. <br />22 <br />23 John Price: As I understand your testimony Mr. Levitan is that the tower being proposed within <br />24 that search ring will not satisfy the needs identified, is that correct? <br />25 <br />26 Ben Levitan: It still doesn't identify... yeah. If you put the cell tower here, with this technology, it's <br />27 not going to solve the problem. Period. <br />28 <br />29 John Price: Let me restate my question. This search ring TowerCom identified as the search ring, <br />30 the area of where a wireless support structure must be located to meet their service needs. <br />31 <br />32 Ben Levitan: It's not going to meet their service needs. <br />33 <br />34 John Price: But what would be the appropriate search ring on a search rings in order to satisfy the <br />35 needs that they've identified? <br />36 <br />37 Ben Levitan: Well it looks like up and down Mount Carmel Road is where you need to... <br />38 <br />39 John Price: Well that is within that search ring exactly. <br />40 <br />41 Ben Levitan: Yeah, <br />42 <br />43 John Price: How about the UNC Campus? <br />44 <br />45 Ben Levitan: The search ring has to be around UNC if you're trying to find a place to provide <br />46 coverage for UNC. That's stands to reason. Ideally, you'd want to be in the middle of UNC. 1 <br />47 would put a point right at the place where you're using the most, put a circle around that, it's going <br />48 to end up inside the UNC Campus.
