Approved 12/12/16
OC Board of Adjustment – 10/10/16 Page 59 of 113

1
Andy Petesch: And it’s you and your husband individually that are running the farm? 2
3
Kara Brewer: Correct. 4
5
Andy Petesch: And so the nature of the business for The Barn of Chapel Hill LLC was correct? 6
7
Kara Brewer: That’s correct. 8
9
Andy Petesch: And also discussed, the preparation for the farm plan summary, which is under tab 16, and 10
you indicated that you had completed this summary in the last few days. Is that correct? 11
12
Kara Brewer: That’s correct. 13
14
Andy Petesch: But the information that’s included in this summary… What period of time ahs that been put 15
together? 16
17
Kara Brewer: I would say a bulk of it was right around the time that we purchased the property so probably 18
around summer 2015, roughly. 19
20
Andy Petesch: Ok. And your testimony at the November 9th SUP hearing, which Ms. Brown reference, 21
again you’ve testified it was your understanding that you could only speak to the camp retreat use that was 22
being used during that hearing so you did not address other uses that you had intended for the farm? 23
24
Kara Brewer: That is correct, yes. 25
26
Andy Petesch: And finally, how are you going to start your seedlings? I believe you testified earlier that they 27
were going to start inside the barn? 28
29
Kara Brewer: Correct. Yes. 30
31
Andy Petesch: So, physically, what will that look like? 32
33
Kara Brewer: So we start and we just have tables set up where we all go in and we do the soil blocking and 34
then we put in the seeds and then we’re going to have these racks and you just put the soil block on a tray 35
and then you put the tray on the rack and you wait for the seed to germinate and then you take it outside 36
when it’s ready. 37
38
Andy Petesch: So where’s the light source? 39
40
Kara Brewer: The light is attached to the rack. 41
42
Andy Petesch: And how many racks do you anticipate you will be using, once you’re at full capacity? 43
44
Kara Brewer: At least 15, maybe more. And again, we’ll be going in and out so we’ll empty one and fill it 45
back up. 46
47
Andy Petesch: Alright. No further questions. 48
49
