I thought the because we were having people assemble onto the 1 property that that’s what it would have to be but it was not the case. 2 3 Barry Katz: And going back to the original request that we faced last year; there didn’t seem to be any 4 vision at all like this involved then. You were just having a barn to have weddings and other special events. 5 6 Kara Brewer: I was specifically told that I could not bring up any farming aspect at all for the SUP 7 application process. It had to be completely two separate things. 8 9 Barry Katz: You have an apiary and you have all these wild flowers and everything. Do you have any 10 particular special liability insurance and materials on hand to deal with the people who are allergic to 11 stings? 12 13 Kara Brewer: Yes, we do have comprehensive farm insurance that covers all of our activities and yes we 14 will have a medical kit there. And of course we’ll be giving warnings too. 15 16 Karen Barrows: Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought I heard you say earlier that when you were looking 17 around for property you were looking around for property that would meet criteria that would allow you to do 18 this wedding venue? 19 20 Kara Brewer: And some of the farming aspect as well. The flowers and the trees, again we hadn’t select the 21 chestnut trees yet but we knew we need large enough acreage to accommodate all that if I just wanted to 22 do weddings. I would have saved a lot money and bought the 2 acre property. 23 24 Matt Hughes: Where were you referring to where you checked the wrong X? 25 26 Kara Brewer: There’s so much paperwork. I think there’s one particular section where it says assembly and 27 I just checked it. 28 29 Matt Hughes: And I was just wondering, who helped you fill out the forms? 30 31 Kara Brewer: County staff. They would help me and talk me through it. I had never done it before. 32 33 Susan Halkiotis: I have another question. So going back, I think that it’s admirable to do things and pursue 34 things that your children can be involved in and you mentioned that starting a farm would allow you time 35 with them outdoors, and this was something they could participate in. But you don’t live on the farm. I 36 mean, most of the time people do live on their farms so that they can… 37 38 Kara Brewer: We live in Chapel Hill; we’re very close by. And that’s part of it. And we’ll be there as much as 39 possible and I’ll be there after I drop the kids off at school, and go to the farm property and work as long as 40 I can and pick them back up. So we’ll figure it out. I live about 15-20 minutes away. 41 42 Andy Petesch: And what part of the barn designed to include a comfortable office space to work since you 43 were going to basing a lot of time there? 44 45 Kara Brewer: Yes and it has space for the kids to do homework and things like that as well so it does give 46 them an area to be off the farm if they needed to. 47 48
