APPROVED 6/12/17
1
2 Andy Petesch: Once you review that, and is that the school curriculum?
3
4 Kara Brewer: It is.
5
6 Andy Petesch: Do you have a copy?
7
8 Kara Brewer: I do not. Thank you.
9
10 Barry Katz: Mm -Hmm Mm -Hmm, right.
11
12 Andy Petesch: Would you go ahead and tell the Board briefly about the field trip curriculum?
13
14 Kara Brewer: Sure. This is just an example of our K -1St field trip offering. It does meet State
15 standards for North Carolina and I mean, I won't go through everything but you can see the
16 different activities that we have listed, parts of a plant, what plants need to grow, pollination station,
17 whats in the dirt. So the kids circle through each of the different activities when they arrive.
18
19 Andy Petesch: Ms. Brewer, did you prepare a list of resource reference items that you refer to in
20 your education on growing flowers?
21
22 Kara Brewer: I did.
23
24 Andy Petesch: And is this that list?
25
26 Kara Brewer: Yes.
27
28 Andy Petesch: A copy.
29
30 Kara Brewer: Thank you.
31
32 Andy Petesch: Would you tell the Board about how you use this, these materials?
33
34 Kara Brewer: It's just what I used in my overall flower research, and then I have gone to workshops
35 and growing schools and things like that that in addition, there's just some really great resources in
36 North Carolina, specifically, over at NC State. And then of course there's just a lot of different
37 books and things like that that help with the process so.
38
39 Andy Petesch: And did you recently attend the Orange County Ag Summit?
40
41 Kara Brewer: I did.
42
43 Andy Petesch: And could you tell the Board a little bit about what that is?
44
45 Kara Brewer: Ag Summit is just a yearly gathering of findings in Orange County and this year's Ag
46 Summit was specifically focused, or part was focused, on agro- tourism.
47
20
