MaUatb Rachel McCook; James Bryan <br />Subject: Request for review/comment <br />To all parties: staff is commenced a review ofa Class 8 Special Use Permit proposing the development oforetreat <br />center on a 22 acre parcel of property off of Morrow Mill Road in the Bingham Township of Orange County. As part of <br />our review of this project we are soliciting your comments on the proposal in the following specific areas of concern: <br />1. Sheriff's Office: Per Section 5.3.2 (B) of the County Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) we need a statement <br />from you commenting on the 'method and adequacy of police, fire, and rescue squad protection'. We need to <br />know K the Sheriff n off ice can serve the project withnempeoLtopubUnsafetvca|bVnd/orifthep/opoomdaooess <br />(denoted on the site plan) |o appropriate for your use. This statement should also contain language indicating if <br />the project will represent a service problem for the County and require additional resources if approved. <br />As part of this review, and to address some concerns we have already received on the project fnlmour[ounding <br />property owners, Planning staff requests documentation on the following: <br />a. Records, If any, ofdisturbance calls from similar retreat/wedding faci|ities in the general area such as: <br />I. R|Qmone House /5SD5NC Highway S4 West <br />\� <br />ii Barn nf Valhalla (1OGODuffy'sVVax); <br />III. Snipes Farm (Snipes Farm Mac Road); <br />iv. Maple View Agriculture Center (3100DaimbndRoad); <br />v. The Aqueduct Conference Center (off of Mt. Carmel Church Road) <br />concerning noise, trespass, vandalism, public nuisance, etc. <br />Records, if any, of incidents of drunk driving associated with events held at these facilities. Aconmam <br />we keep hearing is that people will get drunk at weddings held at this facility and try to drive <br />endangering local motorists and property owners. <br />2. Emergency Services/White Cross Volunteer Fire: Per Section Per Section S.32(E) of the County Unified <br />Development Ordinance (UDO) we need a statement from you commenting on the 'method and adequacy of <br />police, fire, and rescue squad pnotmdnn'. VVa need to know if Orange County Emergency Services and/or White <br />Cross Volunteer Fire Department can serve the project vvithrespecttoenoerOencyoa||s(i.e.resoue,fira, <br />etc.). We also would like to know if there is a need for the applicant to augment public safety concerns with the <br />installation of a fire pond (for example). <br />3. NC DOT: Per Section 5.3.2 (B) of the County Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) we need a statement from <br />you commenting on the 'method and adequacy nf vehicular occess'.
