The Work Group's recommendations are expected to be presented to the
County and municipal governing boards in 2007. The table of permitted uses for Economic Development Districts
specifically includes, under "Government," on page 2.2.12 of the EDD Design Manual:
"Governmental facilities and office buildings (Including solid waste collection centers)". Staff
have not undertaken any detailed assessment of the feasibility and implications of considering
that parcel as a transfer station, but could do so if directed accordingly by the Board.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no direct financial impact associated with discussion of this
topic. Board decisions regarding transfer station. development would be funded through future
appropriations in the Solid Waste/Landfill Enterprise Fund.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board direct staff to schedule a
public meeting of the Eubanks Road area neighborhood to discuss transfer station siting.
