Ives, Brenda Crowder-Gaines, Melvin Hurston, Beverly <br />Foster, Barry Adler, Ron Cammarata, Barbara Chavious, Margaret Brown, Richard Marinshaw <br /> <br />BOARD OF HEALTH MEMBERS ABSENT: Jonathan Klein, Janet Southerland <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Rosemary Summers, Interim Health Director; Patsy Bateman, Administrative Assistant <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Albert Kittrell, Assistant County Manager; Elaine Holmes, Personnel Director <br /> <br />I. CALL TO ORDER AND INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS <br /> Dr. Ives called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Rosemary Summers introduced the staff present. At this time, <br />Rosemary Summers submitted to add to the May 21, 1998 agenda the following: UNC Pediatric Contract to Item <br />IIB, under Action Items. <br /> <br />II. APPROVE MINUTES OF APRIL 23, 1998; MAY 8, 1998; MAY 11, 1998 <br /> <br /> The motion to approve the minutes of April 23, 1998; May 8, 1998; May 11, 1998 was made by Melvin <br />Hurston (Beverly Foster, Brenda Crowder-Gaines), seconded by Brenda Crowder-Gaines (Barbara <br />Chavious; Ron Cammarata) and carried without dissent. <br /> <br /> ADOPTION OF PROFESSIONAL SERVICE CONTRACTS <br /> The annual contracts between the UNC Family Practice Center, the UNC School of Pharmacy, the UNC School of <br />Dentistry, the UNC Pediatric Contract, and the OCHD were reviewed. <br /> <br /> The motion to adopt the Professional Service Contracts (UNC Family Practice Center, UNC School of <br />Pharmacy, UNC School of Dentistry, and UNC Pediatric Contract) was made by Barbara Chavious, <br />seconded by Brenda Crowder-Gaines and carried without dissent. <br /> <br />INTERIM HEALTH DIRECTOR’S REPORT <br />The Board of Health was updated on the Rabies Poster Contest and the Health Department Budget. The Board <br />of Health received the information on the positions approved by the manager. There were no questions. The <br />next step is County Commissioner review and approval of the budget. <br /> <br />The Board of Health was informed of meetings taking place through the North Carolina Local Health Directors’ <br />Association with a firm called Health Quest, an outside consultant hired to do a study on what public health should <br />look like in North Carolina. <br /> <br />The Board of Health agreed to be the “host” for an Employee Appreciation Day, scheduled for June 12, 1998. <br />The Board of Health will be serving lunch to Health Department Employees. <br /> <br /> SEARCH COMMITTEE CLOSED SESSION: Personnel Matter (Authority G.S. Section 143-318.11 (a) (6)) <br />The Board of Health Meeting adjourned to a closed session to discuss personnel matters. <br /> <br /> The motion to adjourn to a closed session to discuss personnel matters (Authority G.S. Section 143- <br />318.11 (a) (6)) was made by Barry Adler, seconded by Brenda Crowder-Gaines and carried without <br />dissent. <br />
