MINUTES
ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH
November 18, 1999

Board of Health Minutes
Transcription completed by Phyllis R. Privette 3 November 18, 1999

V. Action Items
A. Board Elections
Beverly Foster nominated Dr. Jonathan Klein as Chair and nominated Janet Southerland as Vice
Chair. The Board unanimously accepted the nominations. Beverly Foster moved to close
nominations and to accept by acclamation Dr. Klein as Chair and Dr. Southerland as Vice-Chair.
The motion was seconded by Barbara Chavious and passed unanimously.

Newly elected Chair, Jonathan Klein chaired the completion of the meeting.

B. Approval of Meeting Calendar Year for 2000
The Board of Health approved the adoption of the 2000 Board Meeting Schedule with the exception
of finding a different location for the meetings proposed to be to be held at the Homestead Center.
No decision was made on the work day sessions.

Brenda Crowder-Gaines made the motion to approve the 2000 Board Meeting Schedule as
amended. The motion was seconded by Beverly Foster and was passed unanimously.

Board of Health December 1999 Meeting:
A motion was made by Brenda Crowder-Gaines to cancel the December Board of Health
meeting. The motion was seconded by Barbara Chavious and was unanimously passed.

VI. Citizen Concern:
Barry Jacobs discussed an environmental health septic tank issue with the board. Local rules do not
allow tanks that cannot accommodate changes from 2 bedrooms to what is considered a 3 bedroom
dwelling. The decision on the issue is consistent with past decisions. Citizens can go through appeals
process. Environmental health staff is working with this situation.

VII.
