MINUTES
ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH
August 24, 2000

Board of Health Minutes
Transcription completed by V. Anne Miles 3 August 24, 2000
asked counties to engage in local collection of data in addition to analyzing secondary
data that was provided by the state.

The OCHD was fortunate that data collection plans were well underway last year. We
were able to capitalize on this and use very recently collected primary data from a
variety of sources. These same data sources and much of this same document formed
the backbone of the Healthy Carolinians recertification document.

IV. BOARD COMMENTS

A. New Board of Health roster was distributed with the request for any corrections or changes to
be directed to the secretary.

B. OCHD Brochure
Copies of a newly designed brochure summarizing health services provided by the Orange
County Health Department were distributed to the board members. These will be available for
distribution to the public both in Spanish and English.

C. The agenda for the September 16 Board of Health workshop is still in the planning stages.
Subjects to be addressed at the workshop will include mandated service delivery and the
department’s assessment regarding the provision of those services..

V. CLOSED SESSION: PERSONNEL MATTER

Motion to move into closed session under G.S. Section 143-318.11 (a)(6) was made by Mel
Hurston, seconded by Martha Stucker and carried without dissent.

VI. ADJOURN

The motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Janet Southerland, seconded by Barry Adler
and carried without dissent.

The Board of Health meeting adjourned at 10:00 P.M.

The next regular Board of Health meeting will be held on September 28, 2000 at the Government
Services Center, Hillsborough, North Carolina.

Respectfully submitted,

Rosemary L. Summers, MPH, DrPH
Health Director
Secretary to the Board RLS:vam
